Tsuneo Suzuki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Fujisawa in Kanagawa Prefecture, a position he has held since 2012. A graduate of Waseda University, he began his political career as a member of the Fujisawa City Council in 1979, later serving as its chairman. He subsequently served five terms in the Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly before being elected mayor. During his tenure as mayor, he has focused on municipal stability and social initiatives, including the implementation of a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2021 and fiscal measures to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
