Urkhao Gwra Brahma

Urkhao Gwra Brahma is an Indian politician, poet, and minister serving in the Government of Assam. Representing the Chapaguri constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly since 2021, he holds the portfolios for Handloom, Textile & Sericulture, Soil Conservation, and Welfare of Bodoland Department. Previously, he served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 2002 to 2008 as an Independent candidate. In addition to his political career, he is a recognized Bodo writer who founded the United People's Party Liberal in 2015 and received the Sahitya Akademi Award for poetry in 2014.
