Mayu Ushida is a Japanese politician and former NHK announcer currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Tokyo constituency. Born in Ikeda, Osaka, she graduated from Osaka University with a degree in clinical laboratory science and worked as a clinical laboratory technician before joining NHK in 2009. During her broadcasting career, she served in various roles across Yamaguchi, Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo, notably hosting programs such as 'Nichiyo Toron'. In 2025, she left NHK to enter politics and was elected to the House of Councillors as a candidate for the Democratic Party for the People.
