臼井正一

Shoichi Usui is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Chiba Prefecture constituency. Born in 1975, he previously served five terms in the Chiba Prefectural Assembly, where he held various leadership roles including committee chairmanships. Before entering politics, he worked at the Oriental Land Company and served as a secretary to his father, former Cabinet Minister Hideo Usui. Politically, he is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and holds conservative views, supporting constitutional reform, the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, and the continued use of nuclear power. He has also expressed opposition to the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage.
