Valerie Foushee is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 4th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives and the North Carolina Senate. Foushee has built a career focused on education, infrastructure, and progressive policy, including support for the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. She is the first African American and the first woman to represent her district in Congress, where she currently holds a leadership position as a Regional Whip.
