Van Wanggaard is an American politician and former law enforcement officer serving as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 21st Senate district. First elected in 2010, he briefly left office following a 2012 recall election before reclaiming his seat in 2014. Throughout his tenure, he has served as the Wisconsin Senate Majority Caucus Chair. Before his legislative career, Wanggaard worked as an investigator for the Racine Police Department for nearly three decades and served on the Racine County Board of Supervisors. He has announced that he will not seek re-election in 2026.
