Viesturs Kleinbergs is a Latvian politician and social worker currently serving as the 13th Mayor of Riga since the restoration of Latvia's independence. Born in 1978, he holds a degree in political science and a master's in social work from the University of Latvia. Before his election as mayor in June 2025, Kleinbergs built a career in social services and local government, including leadership roles in the Latvian Samaritan Union. Throughout his political career, he has focused on social sector priorities, such as increasing support for social workers and families with children who have disabilities. He represents the Progressive party and was elected to the Riga City Council in 2020 before assuming the mayoral office.
