William N. Brownsberger is an American politician serving as the President pro tempore of the Massachusetts Senate. Representing the Suffolk and Middlesex District, he has been a member of the Massachusetts Senate since 2012, following his tenure in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012. A Harvard-educated attorney, Brownsberger previously served as a Belmont Selectman and as an Assistant Attorney General. He is known for his legislative work in the state and his opposition to staff unionization efforts within the Senate. In 2023, he publicly identified as bisexual.
