Yasushi Takahashi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Mito, a position he has held since 2011. Born in 1965 in the former Tokezumi Village, he graduated from Nihon University and later completed a master's program at Meiji University. Before his tenure as mayor, he served as a member of the Mito City Council for three terms and as a member of the Ibaraki Prefectural Assembly for two terms. Throughout his mayoral career, he has focused on fiscal discipline, including voluntary salary reductions and the allocation of personal bonuses toward COVID-19 countermeasures.
