Yoshifu Arita is a Japanese politician, journalist, and television commentator currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. After beginning his career as a journalist specializing in cults and religious movements, including the Aum Shinrikyo and the Unification Church, he transitioned into politics. He previously served two terms in the House of Councillors, where he chaired the Committee on Economy and Industry and the Special Committee on Political Ethics and Election Systems. Arita is known for his advocacy on issues such as the abduction of Japanese citizens by North Korea, opposition to hate speech, and support for progressive social policies, including same-sex marriage and selective separate surnames for married couples.
