Younten Phuntsho
Profile
Younten Phuntsho is a Bhutanese politician serving as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock since January 2024 under the People's Democratic Party government. Representing the Jomotsangkha–Martshala constituency in Samdrup Jongkhar District, he brings extensive environmental and conservation expertise to his portfolio, focusing on food security, organic farming, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable rural livelihoods. Prior to entering politics, he worked in civil service with the Department of Forest and Park Services and served as a programme coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Bhutan. He holds a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University and a Master of Science in Forestry Management and Administration from the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy.
