Zakia Khattabi

Zakia Khattabi is a Belgian politician and member of the Ecolo party. She has served as a Member of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region and as Ecolo group leader in the Brussels Parliament, returning to the assembly after completing her term as federal Minister of Climate, Environment, Sustainable Development and Green Deal in the De Croo Government from October 2020 to February 2025. Educated at the Université libre de Bruxelles as a social worker, she previously co-presided over Ecolo from 2015 to 2019, served in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and the Senate, and has been an active voice for political ecology, feminist issues, and the recognition of femicide in Belgium.
