Previously, he had a long and distinguished career in local government, serving as the President of Gliwice from 1993 to 2019, making him one of the longest-serving city leaders in Poland. An expert in technical sciences, he also held leadership roles in the Association of Polish Cities. In 2025, he founded the political party New Poland, which he currently leads.
