Abdelnasser Rashid

Abdelnasser Rashid is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 21st district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he holds the distinction of being the first Palestinian-American and one of the first Muslim members to serve in the Illinois General Assembly. Before his election, Rashid worked on several high-profile political campaigns and served as deputy chief of staff to the Cook County Clerk. During his tenure in the legislature, he has focused on environmental policy, notably co-authoring legislation to phase out harmful PFAS chemicals from consumer products, and has been appointed to co-chair the state's AI Task Force.
