Abena Oppong-Asare is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Erith and Thamesmead since 2019. Of Ghanaian descent, she previously worked at the Greater London Authority and served as a councillor for Bexley Council. Throughout her parliamentary career, she has held several frontbench roles, including Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and Shadow Minister for Women's Health and Mental Health. In September 2025, she was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, following a tenure as Parliamentary Secretary for the Cabinet Office.
