Ahmed Attaf

Ahmed Attaf is an Algerian diplomat and politician currently serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, a position he assumed in March 2023. He previously held this same ministerial role from 1996 to 1999 during the Algerian Civil War. A graduate of the National School of Administration in Algiers, Attaf has had a long career in diplomacy, serving as ambassador to India, Yugoslavia, and the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent figure in Algerian politics, having served as a member of the National People's Assembly and as a senior official in various government capacities. His recent tenure has focused on strengthening Algeria's international presence, including securing a non-permanent seat for the country on the UN Security Council for 2024-2025.
