Abdelmadjid Tebboune
Abdelmadjid Tebboune is an Algerian politician who has served as the President of Algeria since December 2019. A career civil servant, he previously held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and briefly served as Prime Minister in 2017. Tebboune began his administrative career as a wali (governor) in various provinces during the 1980s. Elected as an independent candidate, he has focused his presidency on constitutional reform and economic management, though his tenure has been marked by the challenges of the Hirak protest movement and the COVID-19 pandemic.
