Ajay Kumar Bhalla is an Indian politician and retired bureaucrat currently serving as the 19th Governor of Manipur, a position he has held since January 2025. A 1984-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, he previously served as the Union Home Secretary of India from 2019 to 2024, where he managed significant national security challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and regional conflicts. During his tenure as Governor, he oversaw the administration of Manipur during a period of President's rule and implemented various security and land registration policies. He also briefly held the additional charge of Governor of Nagaland in 2025.
