Akanat Promphan

Akanat Promphan is a Thai politician currently serving as the Minister of Industry. Born in 1986, he began his political career as a private secretary to his stepfather, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, before being elected as the youngest Member of Parliament in 2011. He later played a prominent role as a spokesman for the People's Democratic Reform Committee during the 2013–2014 protests. After a period of monastic life, he transitioned to the United Thai Nation Party, where he serves as secretary-general. He holds degrees in engineering, economics, and management from the University of Oxford.
