Before his election to the Assembly, Chambers had a long career in local government, serving as a councillor for North Down and later for Ards and North Down, including a term as Mayor of North Down in 2000. As a prominent health spokesperson for his party, he has been a vocal advocate for the restoration of the Northern Ireland Executive to address critical issues in cancer services and healthcare infrastructure.
