Alen Simonyan is an Armenian politician currently serving as the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, a position he has held since August 2021. A graduate of Yerevan State University, he previously worked in media, law, and banking before entering politics. He was a member of the Yerevan City Council and has been a prominent figure in the Civil Contract party. In early 2022, he briefly served as the acting President of Armenia following the resignation of Armen Sarkissian. Simonyan is a vocal advocate for Armenia's integration with the European Union and has publicly supported holding a national referendum on the matter.
