Alfonso H. Lopez

Alfonso H. Lopez is an American politician serving as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2012. A member of the Democratic Party, he represents the 3rd district and made history as the first Latino Democrat elected to the Virginia General Assembly. Throughout his tenure, Lopez has focused on environmental protection, affordable housing, and immigrant rights, notably founding the Virginia Latino Caucus. He previously served in the Obama administration at the Small Business Administration and as a cabinet-level official under Governor Tim Kaine. In 2024, he was appointed Chair of the Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee.
