Alioune Dione is a Senegalese politician and expert in social and economic development who currently serves as the Minister of Microfinance and Social and Solidarity Economy. Appointed in April 2024 by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, he is recognized for his academic work in public finance and his development of the 'immediate economy' concept, which focuses on economic development tailored to African contexts. Prior to his ministerial appointment, he held various roles in the Senegalese public administration, including serving as a technical advisor at the Ministry of Women, Family, Gender and Child Protection, and acted as a scientific commissioner for the PASTEF party.
