Almar Guðmundsson

Almar Guðmundsson is an Icelandic politician currently serving as the Mayor of Garðabær, a position he assumed in June 2022 following the local government elections. An economist by training, he holds an MBA from the London Business School and has been active in local politics since 2014, having served on the Garðabær town council and various municipal committees. In July 2026, he was appointed as the chair of the Association of Icelandic Municipalities. He is married to Guðrún Zoega, and they have five children.
