Alun Cox

Alun Cox is a Welsh politician serving as a Member of the Senedd for the Afan Ogwr Rhondda constituency since 2026. Born in Newport and raised in a family with ties to the local steel industry, he attended Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen. Before his election to the Senedd, Cox worked as a Funding and Development officer at the University of South Wales and served as an Assistant Branch Secretary for the Unison trade union. He previously held a seat on the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council representing the Porth Ward from 2017 to 2022 and has been a long-time member of Plaid Cymru.
