Américo Villarreal Anaya is a Mexican politician and cardiologist currently serving as the Governor of Tamaulipas. Born in 1958, he is the son of former Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Guerra. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career as a cardiologist and served as the director of the General Hospital of Ciudad Victoria. He was elected to the Senate of Mexico in 2018, where he chaired the Health Commission, before assuming his current gubernatorial office in 2022.
