Amanda Septimo is an American politician serving as the Assemblymember for the 84th district of the New York State Assembly, representing the South Bronx. A member of the Democratic Party, she first assumed office in January 2021 after defeating incumbent Carmen Arroyo. Septimo was raised in the South Bronx and attended Vanderbilt University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Prior to her election, she worked for Congressman José Serrano. In late 2025, she announced a primary challenge against Representative Ritchie Torres for New York's 15th congressional district but subsequently withdrew from the race in early 2026 following a diagnosis of lupus.
