Andrew Scheer is a Canadian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Regina—Qu'Appelle since 2004. A member of the Conservative Party, he previously served as the Leader of the Official Opposition from 2017 to 2020 and again briefly in 2025, and held the position of Speaker of the House of Commons from 2011 to 2015, becoming the youngest person to hold that office in Canadian history. Scheer is known for his focus on fiscal restraint, economic development, and opposition to federal carbon taxation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ottawa and has maintained a long-standing career in federal politics, having been re-elected to his seat multiple times since his initial victory at age 25.
