Andy Allen is a Northern Irish politician and a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Belfast East, representing the Ulster Unionist Party since 2015. A former British Army soldier, he served in the War in Afghanistan, where he sustained life-changing injuries in 2008. Following his recovery, he founded the charity AA Veterans Support and was awarded an MBE in 2019 for his service to veterans. Politically, Allen is recognized as a liberal voice within his party, consistently supporting same-sex marriage and abortion rights, and he currently serves as the party's spokesperson for Communities.
