Before entering politics, she was a professor of sociology and social justice at Northland College and the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her PhD. Her political platform focuses on increasing public funding for Wisconsin schools and implementing environmental regulations to combat PFAS contamination. She is also a member of the Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus.
