Ann Rest is an American politician serving as a member of the Minnesota Senate, where she represents District 43. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she has held the position of Senate President Pro Tempore since 2023. Rest previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives for 16 years, beginning in 1984. Her legislative career has focused heavily on tax policy, commerce, transit, and election laws. Before entering politics, she worked as a high school teacher and a Certified Public Accountant.
