Annita Demetriou

Annita Demetriou is a Cypriot politician who has served as the President of the House of Representatives since 2021 and as the President of the Democratic Rally (DISY) since 2023. As the leader of the opposition, she is the first woman and the youngest person to hold the speakership in Cyprus. Her legislative career has focused on social issues, including the criminalization of sexism, the introduction of life imprisonment for femicide, and the promotion of postal voting for European Parliament elections. She previously served as a member of the Troulloi Community Council and worked as a lecturer and public relations officer at the University of Cyprus.
