April Yao

April Yao is a Taiwanese political scientist and politician who has served as the Magistrate of Taitung since 2018. A member of the Kuomintang, she previously served as a member of the Taitung County Council starting in 2005 and was elected as its speaker in 2010. Yao holds a Ph.D. in political science from National Taiwan Normal University and has been active in regional politics for nearly two decades. Throughout her career, she has focused on local governance and economic development, including initiatives to boost tourism in Taitung County.
