Ateny Wek Ateny is a South Sudanese journalist, lawyer, and government official currently serving as the Minister of ICT and Postal Services of the Republic of South Sudan. Before his ministerial appointment, he gained prominence as a journalist and columnist for The Citizen Daily newspaper. He served as the Press Secretary to President Salva Kiir Mayardit from 2013 to 2022, becoming the longest-serving individual in that role. Initially known for his public criticism of the administration, his tenure as press secretary was marked by both significant political influence and internal controversy.
