Athanasios Vasilopoulos

Athanasios Vasilopoulos is a Greek politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kalamata, a position he has held since September 1, 2019. Born on July 29, 1970, in Kalamata, he is a professional freelancer who became active in local government in 2010, serving as a municipal councilor and holding various deputy mayoral roles, including responsibilities for sanitation, civil protection, and agricultural development. Before his mayoral tenure, he was deeply involved in professional unionism, serving as the president of the Federation of Professional, Craft and Commercial Associations of Messenia. He was re-elected as mayor in 2023 for a term extending through 2028.
