Bernadette Clement is a Canadian politician and lawyer currently serving as a member of the Senate of Canada, having been appointed in 2021. Born in Montreal, she established a career as a lawyer and executive director of the Roy McMurtry Legal Clinic in Cornwall, Ontario. Before her Senate appointment, she served as a city councillor and later as the mayor of Cornwall, becoming the first woman and first person of color to hold that office.
