Betty Amongi Akena is a Ugandan politician currently serving as the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development and as the Member of Parliament for Oyam South Constituency. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and public administration and a Master of Arts in international relations and diplomatic studies from Makerere University. Throughout her career, she has held several cabinet positions, including Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and Minister of Kampala Capital City. Despite her affiliation with the opposition Uganda People's Congress, she has served in the cabinet under President Yoweri Museveni since 2016.
