Bimal Rathnayake

Bimal Rathnayake is a Sri Lankan politician currently serving as the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and as the Leader of the House since November 2024. A prominent member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the National People's Power (NPP) coalition, he has held various parliamentary roles since his first election in 2001. Previously, he served as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation from 2004 to 2005. Rathnayake has been a long-standing organizer within the Socialist Youth Union and a key figure in the JVP Politburo, representing the party's interests at the national level.
