Vijitha Herath
Profile
Vijitha Herath is a Sri Lankan politician and diplomat who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs since November 2024. A long-standing Member of Parliament for the Gampaha District since 2000, he has held various cabinet portfolios, including Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage. In the 2024 parliamentary election, he achieved a historic milestone by securing the highest number of votes ever recorded by a single candidate in Sri Lankan electoral history. Herath holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kelaniya and continues to play a central role in shaping Sri Lanka's diplomatic and national policy.
