Bonginkosi Emmanuel "Blade" Nzimande is a South African politician, sociologist, and former anti-apartheid activist currently serving as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. A long-standing figure in South African politics, he served as the General Secretary of the South African Communist Party from 1998 to 2022 and has held various cabinet positions since 2009, including Minister of Higher Education and Minister of Transport. Nzimande holds a PhD in Sociology and has been a prominent voice in national policy debates regarding education and labor.
