Brendan Barber, Baron Barber of Ainsdale, is a British trade union official and life peer who currently serves as a Member of the House of Lords. Born in 1951, he had a distinguished career in the labour movement, most notably serving as the General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) from 2003 to 2012. Following his tenure at the TUC, he chaired the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) Council from 2014 to 2020. He was knighted in 2013 for his services to employment relations and was introduced to the House of Lords in January 2025.
