Byrati Basavaraj is an Indian politician currently serving as a four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Krishnarajapura constituency in Karnataka. He began his political career in local governance, serving as a panchayat member and president before becoming a corporator for the Hoodi ward in 2009. Initially elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly as a member of the Indian National Congress in 2013 and 2018, he later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019. He subsequently served as the Minister of Urban Development in the cabinets of B. S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai. He successfully secured his fourth term as an MLA in the 2023 assembly elections.
