Cansu Özdemir

Cansu Özdemir is a German politician and member of the Bundestag, representing the party Die Linke. Born in Hamburg to a Kurdish family, she previously served as a long-time member of the Hamburg Parliament from 2011 to 2025, where she also acted as chair of the Left faction. Following her election to the federal parliament in 2025, she became the foreign policy spokesperson for her party's parliamentary group. Throughout her career, she has been a vocal advocate for social justice, women's rights, and inclusion, while maintaining a strong focus on foreign policy issues, particularly regarding the Middle East.
