Caren Lay

Caren Lay is a German politician and a long-standing member of the Bundestag, representing the party Die Linke (The Left) since 2009. A sociologist by training, she previously served in the Landtag of Saxony and held various leadership roles within her party, including Federal Executive Director. Lay is widely recognized for her focus on housing, rent, and construction policy, where she advocates for increased public housing and the implementation of a 'Vienna model' to ensure affordable living. She is considered a representative of the libertarian, undogmatic wing of her party and remains active in social justice and anti-fascist movements.
