Carlos Leitão is a Canadian politician and economist who currently serves as a Member of Parliament. Born in Portugal, he immigrated to Canada in 1975 and later established a distinguished career in finance, serving as the chief economist for Laurentian Bank Securities. He previously served in the National Assembly of Quebec, where he held the position of Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2018. Following his tenure in provincial politics and a brief appointment to the Bank of Canada's board of directors, he was elected to the federal Parliament in 2025 and appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry.
