Carmen Moriyón

Carmen Moriyón is a Spanish politician and surgeon currently serving as the Mayor of Gijón. She first held the office from 2011 to 2019, becoming the city's first non-socialist mayor since 1979, and returned to the position in 2023. Before entering politics, she was a specialist in mastology and led the Breast Cancer Unit at Cabueñes Hospital. Since 2018, she has also served as the president of the Asturias Forum political party.
