Carol Dartora

Carol Dartora is a Brazilian politician, historian, and educator currently serving as a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the state of Paraná. A member of the Workers' Party (PT), she made history as the first Black woman elected to the Municipal Chamber of Curitiba in 2020 and subsequently as the first Black woman from Paraná elected to the federal lower house in 2022. Her political career is defined by her advocacy for racial equality, women's rights, and public education, having authored legislation establishing quotas for Black and Indigenous people in civil service examinations. She is also a dedicated activist in the Black Movement and the World March of Women.
