Catherine Trautmann

Catherine Trautmann is a French politician who served as the Mayor of Strasbourg from 1989 to 1997 and again from 2000 to 2001. A prominent member of the Socialist Party, she held several national government positions, including Minister of Culture and Communication and government spokesperson under Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. Throughout her career, she was also a long-serving Member of the European Parliament and a deputy in the French National Assembly. Known for her focus on urban development, she notably championed the implementation of the Strasbourg tramway system during her first mayoral term.
