Michaël Delafosse

Michaël Delafosse is a French politician serving as the Mayor of Montpellier and President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole since 2020. A member of the Socialist Party, he previously served as a departmental councilor for Hérault and held various municipal roles, including deputy mayor for culture and urban planning. An educator by training, he has focused his administration on urban development, security, and the implementation of free public transport across the metropolitan area. Politically, he is known for his strong commitment to secularism, having received the National Prize for Secularism in 2023, and for maintaining a moderate stance within the French left, often distancing himself from national party alliances like the NUPES.
