Cathy Berx is a Belgian politician, jurist, and the current Governor of the Province of Antwerp. Born in Berchem, she holds a doctorate in law and previously served as a member of the Flemish Parliament and the Antwerp City Council. Before assuming her gubernatorial role in 2008, she was a researcher for the Christian Democratic Party and a key staff member for former Prime Minister Yves Leterme. In addition to her political duties, she has held academic teaching positions and served as the chairman of the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp.
